In our restoration projects we specialize in identifying, retaining, and preserving as close as possible, period wrought iron fences, posts, railings, gates and wrought iron decorative elements.  Today's technology allows us to recreate an item that is finished with a tough, weather resistance powder coating finish that can be made to look like the fence or gate has been standing in place for years.  Although we may not be able to use metals that are aged hundreds of years, we can use metals that will look that way.   

     For those projects that cannot use the existing fences or gates, we can recreate the look and finish of the entire restoration period of fences with posts and gates that are too deteriorated to repair if the overall form and detailing are still evident.  Physical evidence from the deteriorated feature will be used as a model to guide the new work. If using the same kind of material is not technically or economically feasible, then a compatible substitute material will be considered.  The new work will be unobtrusively dated to guide future research and treatment.  The replacement feature should be based on physical evidence and convey the same appearance.  We have sources that can duplicate most finials.  This will allow us to maintain the integrity of the project.
